David Sibbald shows
A Scot from Edinburgh, but studying at university in Glasgow, David embarked on his radio career at Radio Clyde in the Newsroom. But the attraction of teaching Spanish, Russian, Portuguese and French was too strong to resist and he went on to be a Junior School Head and Senior teacher at a major secondary school. He still finds time to give private tutoring.
In 1985, he moved abroad (to England!) and had his own restaurant, while teaching part-time. He did regular radio programmes in North Yorkshire, then on the internet and, after finally retiring from teaching, he found himself doing a daily breakfast show on a community radio station near Harrogate. These days he has expanded to Pure Gold! As well as his love for chart music from the 1950s to the present day, David has found a new passion – country music.
Since turning 60, David has acquired yet another passion – cruising and he gives talks on aspects of entertainment there. His knowledge of language and interest in different cultures has led him to discover more about the places he visits.
You can catch David on the station with his Saturday Show from 9-12 and Country Classics on Sunday afternoons at noon. He’s happy to be working once again with Ray Peters on Pure Gold.
